A walking tour of the medieval part - "Icheri Shaher" (X-XIX century) begins with the main city gate of the fortress walls "Gosha Gala Gapisi" (double gate) and then follows to the "Archaeological Garden", on the territory of which the remains of buildings of the Bronze Age - the earliest settlement in Baku were discovered during excavations. Shirvanshahs' Palace (15th century) with a detailed survey of all the complex buildings and museum expositions. “City of oil and millions” (3 hours)
Starting mid- 19th century, oil brought about the fast development of Baku. By the beginning of the 20th century, Baku became the world'ds oil capital. That period of time wealthy Azerbaijani oil magnates played a significant role in the formation of oil business not only in Azerbaijan but in the whole Russian Empire. In the turn of 19 and 20 centuries, a number of well-known foreign companies operated in Baku, Nobels, Rothschilds, Shibaev, Unanov, and others.
The excursion starts with the visit to Azerbaijan Historical Museum located in a residential building that belonged to Azerbaijani oil industrialist, Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev. After viewing the exposition devoted to the oil boom in the time span mid-19th to early 20th centuries, the tourists pass through the living area of millionaire Tagiyev's family. Then the tourists are taken to Baku's oldest oil field, Bibi Heybat and to the “Villa Petrolia where the tourists will see the museum and the park of the “Nobel Brotherhood Partnership” where the office, residential building, and the Nobel Memorial Museum are situated. The tourists will also be shown masterpieces of architecture that were built at the turn of the centuries by the well-known local and foreign architects and commissioned by wealthy oil producers.

“Sergey Yesenin in the city of winds” (4 hours)
At all times, the city was visited by prominent people from different countries. Among them, there are many well-known writers and poets. The excursion will tell the tourists about the prominent role played by Baku and Bakuvians in the creative work of the Russian poet of the twentieth century, Sergei Yesenin. The route passes through the central streets, where, in the 1920s the editorial board of the newspaper “Baku Worker” was located, with whom the Russian poet actively collaborated in 1924-25. The building of the hotel New Europe, in which he repeatedly stayed in those years and where he began to create his famous cycle of poems Persian motifs. Further, the tourists are taken to the old oil field and, directly, to the mountain and cave of Stepan Razin, where Sergei Yesenin took part in the festive May Day celebration of 1925 and where the lines of the verse “Balakhan May” were born. Completion of the excursion is in the resort village of Mardakan, where the Yesenin Memorial House-Museum was opened on the territory of the Dendropark. There the exposition of the “Baku period” of the poet’s life and work is presented.

"Ancient Flames of Absheron" (3 hours)
The excursion tells about one of the most ancient religions of the East - Zaroastrism, which is based on the cult of the elements of fire and on the importance of Baku and Azerbaijan as a country of "soul of a respected fire." Tourists will visit the place of spontaneous release of natural gas at the place of blazing flames on Mount Yanardag / fiery mountain / near the village of Mahammedli, then they will go through the area of the oldest oil fields in Absheron and end the tour visiting the museum of the Temple of Fire worshippers “Ateshgah” in the village of Surakhany, where in ancient times, there was a “seven-roomed temple” of fire-worshippers – Zoroastrians, on the site of which, later, in the 17th century, merchants and pilgrims (Shaivites and Sigkhs) from distant India built their Fire Temple, that has survived to the present day.

“Medieval towers and castles” (4 hours)
In XI-XII centuries, Baku became a large commercial seaport on the Caspian Sea. The rulers of the Shirvanshah dynasty, for security reasons, began erecting the fortifications of the city. Three rows of fortress walls were constructed around the Baku fortress, and a deep moat was dug. In addition, more defenses such as signal towers and small fortresses appeared on the hills surrounding the city. All these towers and castles played the role of a unified defense system of the city.
The tour route passes via ancient villages of Absheron: Ramana, Mardakan, Gala, where, besides the towers and fortresses, tourists can visit and explore the State Historical and Ethnographic Reserve in the village of Gala. Around of village, there are other 215 archaeological sites.

“Journey to the Stone Age” (4 hours)
Gobustan archaeological reserve is situated 60 km south of Baku. In the 30s of the last century sites of people ofStone Age were discovered. Gobustan's drawings are engraved and scratched on the rocks from the early Neolithic to the Middle Ages. There are more than 6000 of them, among which there are drawings whose age is at least 25 thousand years. The famous Norwegian explorer and traveler Thor Heyerdahl during his visit paid special attention to the boat drawings in Gobustan. As a result of his research, Thor Heyerdahl concluded that the ancestors of the Scandinavians come from the territory of Azerbaijan.
On route to Gobustan, the tourists will see old onshore oil fields and modern offshore drilling platforms on the Caspian.
On the site, the tourists will view rock painting, burials, sites, and settlements. They will also visit the museum complex consisted of 12 exhibition halls with 100 thousand archeological materials.

What do you know about mud volcanos? (4 hours)
Azerbaijan ranks number one in the world by the number of mud volcanos. There are more than 300 mud volcanos on Absheron Peninsula. Large deposits of oil and gas condensate have been discovered on the territory of the gas volcanos in the process of their eruption. The erupted mud, lava and the liquid are used as raw material in chemical, pharmaсeutical, and construction industries.
The tourists on their way to Dashgil volcano will see smaller mud volcanos. They will observe elevations of griffins, depressions on the surface of the earth - salsa and conical elevations with craters - mud hills from which mud masses and gases erupted constantly or periodically to the surface of the earth.

Holidays by the sea on the Absheron Peninsula
Across the coast of Absheron at a distance of 15 km. up to 40 km from the center of Baku (especially in its north-eastern part), there are summer cottages: Shikh, Sahil, Mardakyan, Shuvelyan, Zagulba, Bilgyakh, Novkhani, and others, where tourists can be accommodated in hotels, boarding houses, and sanatoriums. The sea here is characterized by a gradual smooth transition of depth from 0 to 1.5-2 m. Up to a distance of 25 m. From the coast, the bottom, and beaches are covered with fine-grained sand (sometimes shells), which attracts not only adult tourists but mostly vacationers families (with children).
The temperature of the seawater on the beaches of Absheron in the summer months ranges from 23 to 28 degrees C.
