How to get |
By bus - Scheduled bus Baku-Siyazan; By train - Baku-Rostov, Baku-Moscow, Baku-Yalama - 3 hours.
The district is to the north of Baku and lies along the Caspian coast. Gilgilchay, Atachay Rivers run through the territory of the district. Summer is hot and dry here. Average temperature in July is +25 C. Precipitations in a year total to 340-520 mm. Bear, wolf, steppe cat, jackal are among the animals living in the territory of the district. There are sources of the water sulfur.
The district has rich history. A few people know that some time powerful wall the same as Great Chinese Wall was in Azerbaijan. It started at the sea and stretched out through the whole coastal plain in the mountains till the powerful fortress of Chirag-Gala. At present, only several towers, including Chirag-Gala fortress (V century) have remained from the huge construction of the old age. Ruins of Beshbarmag fortress called Khizirzindababa in the folk have saved near the village of Zarat; and the ruins of Gara Dundur related to Dindar fortress is not far from the village of Sedan, Besides, mausoleum of sheikh Heydar of XV century, mausoleum of Pir Khalil of XVIII century are at the village of Shikhlar.
Such kinds of national crafts as wood engraving, encrustation art, making of musical tools, metallic goods are developed in the region.

a) 95 km on highway; 5 km on a complex mountain country road; up to 2 km by foot to a mountain track and rocky sites;
b) 90 km on highway; about 5 km by foot on a mountain track and up to 1 km on rocky sites
- The combined (auto-foot) route upwards on Kesh gorge on "Baku-Guba" highway in area of railway station Zarat and up to sources;
- Upwards on gorge – ruins of Kesh – ruins of Keleshihi – ruins of Zergerli – ruins of Agsiyazan – Hyshkeder settlement – Galatepe mountain (851 m.) – ruins of Kucheyri / Kuche yeri / chain of lakes on plateau in Gaynarja tract (the Radial output to ruins of Findigan) – area of Saraku mountain (958 m.) (the Radial output on Balygaya mountain (986 m)
